Don Trout - Paintings in Watercolor, Oil, and Mixed Media
EXPERIMENTAL - Gallery 3
I believe that fine art may take many forms and sometimes using available shapes,
or textures, incorporating them in a composition, and bringing it to life with added
collaged papers and paint is as satisfying a medium as any other.
"Fish Print #1
15" x 11"
"Fish Print #2"
22" x 15"
These prints were poor but I felt letting the background
color flow through the negative spaces was effective.
They appear to be swimming through a toxic pond,
dissolving as they go!
"Fish Print #3"
Fish prints numbered 1,2, and 3 are painted on
#300 Arches watercolor paper. No attempt was
made to depict a realistic scenario. In #1 and #3 I
was influenced by photographs of fossils still
embedded in matrix material.
"Meeting in
Progress"
"I Told You So!"
These two paintings are
22" x 15" on 140#
Arches watercolor
paper.
FISH PRINTS
The fish prints were made by brushing acrylic paint over a fresh cleaned fish then pressing a
rice paper onto and around the relief surface to capture the scales and as much of the
character of the fish as possible.
STAMPINGS
These paintings were made by brushing acrylic paint over found materials,
leaves, seaweed, pressing them onto watercolor paper or illustration board, and
then painting with watercolor or acrylic paint to create the desired image. They
are all size 15" x 22"
